  • Homemade Electricity

  • The large quantities of carbon dioxide in the air play a major role in the green house effect which is the primary cause of global warming. Conventional methods of power generation like the burning of coal and gas in power stations cause millions of tons of carbon dioxide emissions into the atmosphere. Though it is believed that electrical power production will always generate pollutants, there are sources that are exponentially cleaner than others such as those that involve the siphoning of the natural energy flows of our planet otherwise known as renewable energy sources. Green electricity is clean electrical power produced from sources or in such a manner that very little or no harm is done to the environment.

There is an outlay of money of course, but it's not break-the-bank stuff, and when you consider that most people who do this save anything upwards of $100 per month, you'll make your money back within the first couple of months. If you want to talk numbers, building both a windmill and a solar panel can be achieved for under $300.

Anything beyond that is saving you money, and possibly even making you profit!
The problem of course, is finding useful information at a cost that's not going to break the bank. This was the part that I found most difficult when I was starting my homemade electricity project. But there are some decent resources out there, and you can find a review of some of the best below.

Once you've done that, you can then move on to other household items and eventually, remove your dependency from the electric companies altogether. They're power-hungry units anyway, and we all use them, so why not make that your first project? A great place to start is your PC.

Find an electrical item in your home that you would like to power without using your mains electricity and set about creating enough homemade electricity to make that a reality. It's more likely that you have a strict budget to stick to, in which case I would recommend the following. Well, if you've already got money to burn, you could approach some of the major companies that will offer to install solar panels and wind turbines in your home for you, but of course this will be at a cost. So how do you go about creating homemade electricity?

But it's not like that anymore. Creating your own energy at home has always been a great idea, but has traditionally been reserved for those with either bags of technical knowledge and time available to them, or a lot of money. You can have homemade electricity using solar and wind power, saving you a fortune on energy bills and in some cases, even having enough to sell some back to the energy companies. The fact is, with only a little bit of knowledge, time and money, you can create energy at home. As energy prices rise all over the world, there has never been a better case for making homemade electricity. The cost of living is going up in all aspects, and wherever you are able to save money, you need to seriously consider it.

The most common way of capturing the energy carried by the change of tides is the construction of a barrage across an estuary, storing water behind it as the tide rises and then releasing the stored water through turbines at low tide. Another method is the use of marine current turbines that capture the energy of the tidal currents. Tidal power
Tidal power is considered the most predictable of all renewable energy sources as todays technology can easily and accurately predict the rise and fall of tides.

These wind turbines can be used along with a solar power unit and can be installed by themselves as a stand-alone power solution to generate electricity from wind. Some units can be mounted on your roof that will create a reasonable amount of electricity for most of your house hold appliances.

    Landfill gas
Landfill gas power is generates electricity buy burning the methane gas emitted by the decomposing rubbish in landfills. In the process, carbon dioxide is released into the atmosphere instead of the more harmful methane gas.

Solar photovoltaic plates can be attached in rooftops or walls and solar panels can be placed in the yard to harness solar energy and directly turn it into electricity. Solar power
Solar power is considered the most abundant source of electricity in existence as the power of the sun is said to remain unlimited for millions of years to come. Today, solar plates can be integrated into houses and buildings in a way that they remain indistinguishable. Semiconductors now allow efficient solar power absorption even during cloudy days, and solar batteries can be used to store excess energy for use during the night.

    Hydro power
Hydro power generates electricity by using water turbines to collect the energy found in running water. In local communities, small dams can be built near streams and rivers to power small water engines to generate electricity. Water power is said to be the most easily distinguished source because there is always a large dam near every hydro power plant.
